DEADLINE: MAY 9, 2016 by 5:00 PM

ELIGIBILITY: The Project is OPEN to invited artists in a regional area encompassing Nevada and Northern California with experience in public art projects

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Reno Downtown Rotary has collaborated with the City of Reno Arts and Culture Commission to install a sculpture garden in Bi Centennial Park, immediately east of Ralston Street between First Street and the Truckee River, in downtown Reno. Installations will remain in place for approximately one year.Goals of this project include: transforming a park into a home for temporary sculpture exhibitions; increase public awareness of art; broaden viewers’ perspectives of public spaces within the City and foster a sense of place. The artist(s) selected should have demonstrated experience working in public locations subject to vandalism. Artwork will be selected based on the quality of design and must be able to remain outside for one year. Proposals should consider the surrounding environs in which they will be placed. Existing work will be considered provided it fits within the specifications of the pedestals shown below and on the attached sheets.

SPECIFICATIONS:

The garden will include two 5 feet by 4 feet tall round pedestals; two 5 feet by 4 feet tall square pedestals; three 4 feet by 4 feet tall square pedestals and one 25 foot diameter footing at grade to allow for the temporary installation of three dimensional sculptures. The maximum weights and sizes vary for each pedestal type.   The building plan sheets that relate to the sculptures are attached. Page 4 of 14 shows the location of each pedestal; page S-03 includes a table of sizes and weights; and pages S-01 and S-02 show the anchor bolt placement for attachment. Artists must provide structural engineering by a Nevada registered engineer with final work. Selected artist(s) will provide an image of the artwork being proposed.
