HAPPY 146th Birthday Reno!

On Saturday May 10th at 10am, you can make history by helping Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation (TMPF) recreate an iconic photograph of 120 Renoites posing for the dedication of the California Building in Idlewild Park.  In celebration of both Reno’s birthday and the sesquicentennial anniversary of Nevada’s statehood, TMPF, in cooperation with the State Historic Preservation Office and The City of Reno will be presenting the first 120 participants with a commemorative deck of Nevada heritage playing cards. Following the photo shoot, all citizens are invited to view Parks: Past/Present Perspectives. The event is free and open to the public.

Parks: Past/Present Perspectives, consists of 18 historical photographs of Truckee Meadows parks culled from UNR’s Special Collection. These photographs have been recreated to show the effects time, the environment and policy decisions have had on our parks. The exhibition is part of the Parks Rephotography Project, which is co-sponsored by the City of Reno and is made possible by a grant from Historic Reno Preservation Society.

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting parks in Truckee Meadows including Washoe County, Reno, and Sparks parks.
