Programming Internship 2016

Sierra Arts Foundation (SAF) is seeking a summer intern to work, one day per-week in scheduling and programming. Sierra Arts is the local arts agency for northern Nevada and northeastern California, dedicated to educating, nurturing, and supporting the arts through presenting cultural events, promoting best practices in arts education, advocating for art in public places, and developing other arts programs as needs arise in our community. We provide meaningful employment to artists, as they work with underserved populations including children, elders, adjudicated youth, and incarcerated adults. Sierra Arts leads our community in assessing the cultural needs of our region, and developing new programs that make this a better place in which to live.

Requirements: Applicants must be a junior or senior studying at either a college or university and have a strong interest in art, design, and arts administration. Experience with Microsoft office and Adobe Creative Suite is required.

Programming: Interns will work within the Elder Care Concert Series program and Sierra Arts in July program. Interns will conduct, produce, and evaluate programs that help audiences of all ages and backgrounds interact with education and contemporary art. Additional projects may include: producing graphics, photography, signage, and advertising. Administrative tasks include: sending emails, updating databases, emailing confirmations and evaluations, and writing biographies. Interested applicants should have strong writing skills, experience with Microsoft Excel and Word, and feel comfortable talking on the phone.

School Credit: It is the responsibility of applicants to retrieve information from their school concerning possible academic credit. We can facilitate by providing evaluations and recommendations to ensure the completion of the internship. We recommend all applicants set up a 3-credit internship with their college or university.

To Apply: Send cover letter, resume, and either one writing sample, photography sample, or advertising sample to Emily Rogers. Applicants will be reviewed immediately and interviews will be scheduled for qualifying individuals. Internships begin on June 8, 2016 and conclude on August 16, 2016.
