Movement in the Classroom with Eve Allen

A partnership with Washoe County School District and the Kennedy Center for Fine Arts, Sierra Arts Foundation and Nevada Museum of Art present Movement in the Classroom.  Professor Eve Allen* will help educators guide students through various movement-based research projects that directly relate to core curriculum studies. Through a kinesthetic learning experience, students are given an alternative way to internalize knowledge, aiding in more efficient and accurate recall of information. Teachers will learn the basic elements of movement and new ways to incorporate movement as a learning tool in science, social studies, math, and language arts. This is a demonstration learning course with a focus on for K-2 educators, please come prepared to move. Participating teachers will earn .5 credits of in-service education from the Nevada Department of Education.

Course fees are $25.50 and include refreshments, snacks. Fees are due on the first day of the workshop, or in advance by phone, 775-329-2787.
