JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Salary Range: $28,000 – $35,000

Classification: Exempt

Position Summary: Develop, implement and assess programs and services that promote the arts
and develop awareness, appreciation, excellence, accessibility and
participation in the arts by the community at large, delegating tasks to
ancillary personnel as appropriate.

Responsibilities: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by incumbents assigned to do this job. This is not an all inclusive list of responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.

1. Analyze community needs and suggest appropriate programs and services to fulfill unmet needs.

2. Manage all SAF programs, hiring and supervising artists, managing budgets, assisting with development and providing coordination throughout the year to ensure a workable schedule.

a) Arts education programs including, but not limited to: Arts in Education residencies, Arts Alternatives residencies.

b) Arts Integration Project including working with WCSD, educators and administrators to manage the Kennedy Center Alliance Partners in Education program which includes providing professional development for classroom educators to learn about arts integration.

c) Elder Care Concert Series: Booking musicians, scheduling concerts, providing education regarding the special nature of performing for elders and patients with dementia.

d) Grants to Artists: Managing the Program through the application, selection and exhibition process.

e) Concerts in the Gallery: Booking and assisting with promotion and production of a monthly series of concerts.

f) Other special program activities and community partnerships

3. Provide technical assistance, including but not limited to, providing consultation to artists and arts/cultural organizations, advocating within the political and business communities for artists/the arts, presenting workshops, overseeing use of loaned equipment, responding to requests for information.

4. Represent SAF in the planning and implementation of community-wide festivals such as the Artown festival, etc. as requested.

Basic Requirements:

1. Experience managing programs and special events required, with budget control experience helpful
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with working knowledge of current software programs and social media
3. Interest in and supportive of the arts. Arts administration experience desired, with a focus in programs (contacts within the arts community helpful)
4. Media relations experience helpful
5. Detail oriented and highly organized required
6. Development experience and grant writing helpful
7. Skilled in creation/production of business correspondence required
8. Professional appearance and demeanor

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree: in art, education, business, or communication
Grants management experience
Ability to work flexible hours as needed
