Board Member Workshop for Arts Non-Profits

Sierra Arts Foundation and the Nevada Arts Council present a free workshop for executive staff and board members of arts based non-profits: Brave New Boards by Kendall Hardin. Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 8:00 am to 1:00 p.m. McKinley Arts and Culture Center at 925 Riverside Drive Reno, NV.

This workshop intervention is designed for board leaders and executive staff who want to structure their board partnership for success and streamline their organization to soar in the decade ahead – while avoiding all the negative pitfalls, energy-swapping antics and deadly dramas of a “board from hell.”

Who should attend?

This intensive, entertaining board development program covers such critical topics as:
· The key roles, responsibilities and expectations of successful boards
· Five stages of boards’ growth cycles
· How to negotiate the board partnership between staff, trustees and volunteers
· How to create working communities and ideas governance structures
· How to recruit dynamic board members who add value
· What every board member needs to know before joining the board
· Legal, fiscal and fiduciary matters
· Setting the vision and working the plan
· Building board and staff leadership succession
· 14 rules for becoming a Board from Hell
· Nine characteristics of a successful cultural nonprofit
· New models and alternatives to boards

Organizations will also receive…
Sierra Arts Foundation board tool kit when they successfully complete their board development challenge assignments.
