Call for Artists: Art BLAST 2015

•   20-30 Artists for 2-day juried art fair
•   10×10 booths provided
•  2-week curated gallery exhibition at McKinley Arts and Culture Center
•   $1000 Best of Show award
•   People’s Choice Purchase prize (up to $2000)

  Summary The City of Reno is seeking artists for the 4th annual Art BLAST. The Biggest Little Art Show Today (BLAST) features a juried art fair at McKinley Arts and Culture Center, a gallery show of selected works, and the Best of Show prize (selected by the jurors) as well as the People’s Choice Purchase award. The art fair will be September 4 and 5, 2015, with a reception on Friday the 4th. The booth fee for selected artists is $50.00. There is no fee to apply.

  Awards The Best of Show prize of $1000 is selected by the Art BLAST jurors. The People’s Choice Purchase award will be determined by the public through popular vote during the fair. The City of Reno will purchase the selected artwork (up to $2000) and add it to the public art collection in City Hall.

  Selection Criteria All artists are invited to submit applications to participate. In evaluating artists for participation, jurors will consider the overall quality of the work. Artwork that is inappropriate for public display by the City of Reno will not be considered. (Examples of inappropriate work would include, but are not limited to, pieces that are sexually explicit, or potentially offensive in nature.) Artists must demonstrate they have a sufficient amount of high quality original artwork available for sale in an art fair setting.

  Artist Expectations To be considered, artists must be able to attend both days of the art fair (Friday, September 5, from 3:00-8:00pm and Saturday, September 6, from 10:00-4:00pm) Artists must be able to deliver selected works to McKinley Arts and Culture Center before August 24, 2015, for inclusion in the Art BLAST gallery show. Artist will be notified of acceptance in early May, 2015.

  Submission Process Deadline for entries is April 10, 2015. Artists must provide the following:

•   A brief statement describing your artwork
•   An artist’s resume
•   A portfolio representative of work for sale during the art fair. Portfolio requirements: 10 images, JPEG format

•   Image inventory with TITLE/MEDIUM/DIMENSION/YEAR/PRICE
•   An image or written description of booth setup
•   Portfolios may be submitted as .pdf or .doc files by email or mail.
