Marigold Movement center is honored to be hosting Anindita Nanda, master dancer, scholar and instructor of Classical Indian Odissi Dance. This week-long residency program is the first part of a seven year training program in this ancient dance lineage. Students enrolled in part 1, level one of this residency will learn the following and more:
– Steppings or the basic building blocks in Odissi in Chouka (square stance) and Tribhangi ( Tri-curved position)
– Footwork in Odissi
– Feet positions in Odissi
– Walks / Chari’s
– Hand Gestures Mudras – Single hand gestures and both hands gestures (Hand outs about the Mudra’s will be provided)
– Head movements
– Eye and neck movements
– Pirouettes in Odissi
– Introduction and learning the choreography to Basant Pallavi ( Pure dance and lyrical piece in Odissi)
